It was a great source of strength and encouragement to see old and new faces at the RBO Charity Golf Tournament on the 5th June, despite the heavy rain on the day. The money raised will help our people in Zimbabwe to continue to treat the 1,800 AIDS patients in four centres throughout the country. The political unrest and violence centred around the Presidential elections makes their job harder, so your help is needed and appreciated now more than ever.
The 7th RBO Charity Golf Tournament was held again in Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links and jointly hosted by the Roberto Bazzoni Onlus and Pioneer Investments. A special thank you to our Gold and Bronze Sponsors, without whom it would not have been possible. In addition to Pioneer Investments they are, HSBC, Lehman Brothers, Societe Generale and Royal Bank of Scotland.
Competition was close on the day! For a second year in a row, Lehman Brothers walked away with third prize, but didn’t manage to run away with all three top prizes as they did last year! Second prize went to Unicredito, with star player Aidan Maher also winning the nearest to pin! With an impressive 57 points, this year’s golfing champions were… UBS!
This year we held an exciting Casino Night after the days golfing. The BBQ we had planned was cancelled due to the heavy rain, so hopefully next year the sun will shine for us again! There were some wonderful prizes to be won at the Casino Night, including a Misha Lenn watercolour, a week in a fabulous villa in Ibiza, tickets to Filarmonica della Scala and much more!
