“Brass Attack!,” the 7th Annual Fundraising Gala of the Roberto Bazzoni Onlus, was held on Friday, November 7 at the InterContinental Boston. Approximately $100,000 was raised for the Luisa Guidotti Hospital for HIV/AIDS patients in Zimbabwe.

“It’s gratifying to have so many members of the Boston financial community supporting the Onlus in these challenging economic times,” states Daniel Kingsbury, President and Director of the Roberto Bazzoni Onlus.

Kingsbury also is President and CEO of Pioneer Investments, the founding sponsor of the Roberto Bazzoni Onlus-US.

The event, which was attended by nearly two hundred top-level Boston business executives, featured a reception, silent and live auctions, dinner and dance to the music of the premier New England dance band, Brass Attack. The evening also featured a special performance by members of the MIT Ballroom Dance Team.

Master of Ceremonies was Robin Young, host of WBUR’s “Here and Now.” Additional remarks were given by Liborio Stellino, the Consul General of Italy, Boston, who was also co-host of the evening, and Sebastiano Bazzoni, founder of the Roberto Bazzoni Onlus and Director of International Relations of Pioneer Investments, Dublin.

Dr. Carlo Spagnolli, resident surgeon at the Luisa Guidotti Hospital, updated the audience on the devastating situation in Mutkoko, Zimbabwe, and how important the funds raised from Brass Attack! are in aiding these impoverished, ailing people.

Robin Starr, Specialist, American and European Paintings and Prints, Skinner, Inc., conducted the live auction which featured such extravagant items as a 7-day Mexican getaway at an eco-resort, an acoustic guitar signed by The Pretenders’ lead singer Chrissie Hynde, and a weekend stay in a suite at The Liberty Hotel, to name a few.

As soon as the bidding had come to a close, the dance band Brass Attack accompanied the exciting dancing of Esther Rheinbay and Marius Radu of the MIT Ballroom Dance Team.

The Roberto Bazzoni Onlus US would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who contributed and helped make Brass Attack! a rousing success.
