Daniel Kingsbury Appointed as President of Bazzoni Onlus in US
Pioneer Investments President and CEO Daniel Kingsbury was elected President of the Roberto Bazzoni Onlus - United States, Inc. at the Onlus' Annual Meeting held last month.

“We are committed to providing the financial resources needed to scale up treatment for the HIV/AIDS patients at the Luisa Guidotti Hospital in Mutoko,” said Mr. Kingsbury.

Under the auspices of the Onlus, the hospital, located in Zimbabwe, has gone from treating 60 patients in 2001 and currently is treating nearly 1,500 patients, many of whom walk for days on foot to receive the care they need.

“Not only are we providing badly needed food and vitamins to supplement the treatment,” added Mr. Kingsbury, “but we go to lengths to take an entire comprehensive, holistic approach the considers the dignity of the patient. This includes clean water, plastic sheeting to shield residents of Mutoko from the cold and income-generating projects such as sewing.”

Zimbabwe is one of the poorest countries in the developing world with an inflation rate said to be 10,000% under its current government. Besides the public health challenges of rampant AIDS in the country, its economic challenges are severe with no food on store shelves, many if not most medicines unavailable, fuel shortages, and electricity outages.

The Onlus in the United States holds two events each year, the upcoming “Out of Africa,” on November 15, 2007 and the annual golf tournament held each June at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston, Massachusetts. Over $1 million has been raised for the Onlus since its inception in 2001.
