A great turnout for a great day! The sun shone down on all the golfers eager to become the winners of this year’s tournament! There were 26 teams on the day, an increase of 8 from last year, which is a positive sign and is greatly appreciated. Including all your generous donations before and at the event, we raised in excess of €55,000. Thank you all sincerely for your contribution and ongoing support. With no administrative costs, all the contributions will go straight to the people who really need the help.

Our project in Zimbabwe continues to treat over 1,600 patients affected by AIDS. The project supports patients and their families, giving them the means to live as “normal” a life as possible. Despite the lack of media attention to the plight of the people of Zimbabwe, little has changed in the past few years, and they remain under the control of the old elite who forget about their people. That is why our work is so valuable and necessary.

The 9th RBO Charity Golf Tournament was held again in Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links and jointly hosted by the Roberto Bazzoni Onlus and Pioneer Investments. A special thank you to our Gold Sponsors, HSBC, Pioneer Investments and UniCredit Ireland, whose ongoing support is invaluable.

The scores were the highest in our history! Shane Moroney, Andy McEntee and Paul Quinn of UniCredit Ireland ran away with the competition with 90 points! With 86 points Michael Lalor, Eoin O’Sullivan and Gerry Bradley of HSBC came second, and with 83 points Pioneer Investments’ Billy O’Riordain, Ruairi O’Healai and Tom McMahon came third.

Dinner, a little jazz music and a live auction & raffle followed the day of golfing. A weekend in Prague, one in Vienna, a DELL laptop and a day of fishing in the River Test were all successfully bid on in the live auction. 12 wonderful prizes were entered into the raffle! Thank you to everyone who entered a bid and bought raffle tickets. Our particular thanks to all the companies who generously donated all the great prizes.

We sincerely hope you enjoyed the day and we look forward to seeing you all again next year!
