Three hundred teddy bears and other stuffed animals were collected for the children at the Luisa Guidotti Hospital in Mutoko, Zimbabwe.
Giraffes, lions, leopards, turtles, a moose, and all sorts of stuffed animals will be sent to the orphans and AIDS patients at the hospital, which is supported by the Bazzoni Onlus.
Dr. Carlo Spagnolli, Resident Surgeon at the Luisa Guidotti Hospital, will be distributing the bears and animals to the children before the holidays.
In addition to stuffed animals contributed by Pioneer associates, parishioners at the Southern Baptist Church in Roxbury—a neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts—also donated dozens of bears. Geoffrey Hicks, pastor at the church, is a renowned jazz pianist who performed at the recent Bazzoni Onlus fundraiser, “Out of Africa.” When he heard of the initiative, he talked about it with his congregation and an outpouring of support ensued.
The Bazzoni Onlus expresses its gratitude to all Pioneer associates in Boston, as well as our new friends in Roxbury, who participated in this initiative.
