Dear Members,

Attached is a brief and clear update on the situation in Zimbabwe. It requires no additional comment.

Our Charity continues to face an unprecedented effort in coping with the increasingly difficult external environment and a trip to the Country will take place on June 30th in order to discuss and finalize a number of measures which hopefully will alleviate the problems so many people have to face as a consequence of the State's failure to provide the basic services we were used to get.

The projects include:
  • drilling two new boreholes in the L.Guidotti Hospital, and equipping them with solar pumps
  • providing the staff and doctors houses in the same Hospital with a solar cells system, to cope wit the increasingly long blackouts
  • organizing the import of diesel, which is no longer available
  • sourcing food supplies
  • upgrading the capabilities of the G.Spagnolli Centre in Harare, so that the mothers affected by AIDS under treatment are better taken care of.
plus any other measure which can be viable and useful to our patients and stakeholders.

Information and reports about the trip will be diffused in due course, when back.

Sebastiano
