Pioneer Investments in Boston, Massachusetts has been raising funds for the Roberto Bazzoni Onlus for four years now for AIDS patients at the Luisa Guidotti Hospital at All Souls Mission in Mutoko, Zimbabwe. The mission of the Onlus recently has expanded to provide food, blankets, and plastic sheeting for shelter for displaced persons.
Thus far the US Onlus has sent nearly half a million dollars to Zimbabwe.
The Bazzoni Onlus has allowed the doctor at Luisa Guidotti Hospital, Dr. Carlo Spagnolli, to assist the family in the picture, and hundreds of others, as a result of “Operation Murambastvina.” The mother and her children are pictured in the rubble of what was once their home in Porta Farm, near Harare, the capital city.
Porta Farm was demolished in its entirety on July 28, 2005.
Two and a half million people have been displaced from their homes. Whole urban villages have been razed to the ground and families have lost their housing and livelihoods, fleeing for the countryside.
“Operation Murambatsvina,” is an effort to “clean up” Zimbabwe’s cities from street dwellers and poor dwellers in townships, as well as street vendors who make their livings from selling items from modest kiosks.
With our support, Dr. Spagnolli and others at the Luisa Guidotti Hospital at All Souls Mission are doing their best to heal the suffering and to bring to people in townships any help they can find.
